Strengthening the Capacity of Women to Safeguard Rainforest Resources

Strengthening the Capacity of Women to Safeguard Rainforest Resources

IWDA and Live and Learn Environmental Education are collaborating on a new project, Strengthening the Capacity of Women to Safeguard Rainforest Resources in Vanuatu.

This project will complement an existing project, Strengthening the Capacity of Communities to Safeguard Rainforest Resources in Vanuatu, an education and advocacy campaign towards sustainable logging practices and responsible forest legislation. The new project will support women to develop the knowledge and skills they need to participate in decision-making so they can help promote and change practice and behaviour so that forest activities are high value both ecologically and economically. Extending the existing project to better include women will also help shift attitudes of male community leaders about the involvement of women in decision-making.

This project has finished. 30 June 2008
