As Jane Sloane mentioned in her February update, IWDA Empower and major donors were given the opportunity to hear Christine Grumm speak in Melbourne and Sydney as part of the Australian Women Donors’ Network’s Women Mobilising Millions campaign.

Christine Grumm is President and CEO of the international Women’s Funding Network, with more than three decades of experience as a leader in effecting social change through civil society, and especially through women’s philanthropy. Chris passionately believes in the power of women and girls’ solutions and is dedicated to helping unleash that potential to help transform the world.

The Australian Women Donors’ Network hosted lunches in Sydney and Melbourne with Chris Grumm together with the co-founder of Women Moving Millions, and founder of the New York Based Sister Fund, Helen LaKelly Hunt.

Women Moving Millions is a philanthropy campaign that began in the USA. It has the vision of raising $1 billion through philanthropic gifts of up to $1 million. “Women Moving Millions is about promoting the importance of funding for women and girls globally, and elevating them to the top of the philanthropic list,” said the founder of the American movement, Helen LaKelly Hunt.

For those of you who were unable to attend here is an MP3 of Chris speaking to IWDA supporters in Melbourne:

Beyond these functions there is, of course, the opportunity for you to create and host your own fabulous event in support of IWDA’s work, especially for International Women’s Day on and around March 8. And of course, you can host an event at any time during the year and contribute to IWDA in celebration of our 25th anniversary – for instance you could have a function for 25 friends and donate $250 or $2,500 or $25,000 to IWDA’s programs.

We love it when our supporters mobilise their own sense of creativity and celebration to support the women we work with in Asia and the Pacific!
