UNIFEM and UNAIDS Speech: HIV/AIDS and Women

UNIFEM and UNAIDS Speech:  HIV/AIDS and Women

Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) welcome the opportunity to address the Commission on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, to highlight the issues of women and girls in the context of the AIDS epidemic.

It has been fifteen years since these issues were first addressed in the Beijing Platform for Action.

This is an informative speech that clearly highlights the need to effectively address gender inequality and stop discrimination and violence against women and girls at the country level, in order to combat  the spread of HIV. M.T
