A 2010 Delegate’s Guide to Women and AIDS

This guide has been prepared by the ATHENA Network, the Global Coalition on Women and AIDS (GCWA), and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) in collaboration with the International AIDS Society, the Women’s Networking Zone Partnership, and Women ARISE.

It calls for special attention to be paid to advancing gender equality and human rights as well as to strengthening the leadership and meaningful participation of women and girls, particularly the most affected, in the global response to HIV.

Prepared as a guide for delegates to the ‘AIDS 2010: XVIII International AIDS Conference’ which takes place from 18-23 July, this resource will give you a good overview of the many complex issues that frame the contemporary HIV/AIDS debate. B.M.

ICRW and the World Bank will host a satellite session titled “Move to Action: Stigma Reduction and the South Asia Experience,” as part of the International AIDS Conference in Vienna. For questions regarding the session, please contact Laura Brady at lbrady@icrw.org.

Thank you for your feedback to date, and we encourage your ongoing input in this initiative. IWDA is keen to feature information about resources, events and opportunities in Australia and invites you to contribute. Please send information to be included to egender-items@iwda.org.au
