Day 11: International Volunteer Day for Social and Economic Development – What Can You Do?
Coinciding with the International Volunteer Day for Social and Economic Development, we thought we’d take the opportunity to explore some of the things you can do as agents of change, and some of the ways you can contribute to the fight against gender violence. Here are just a few ideas:
Start by downloading and distributing IWDA’s 25 Ways to Get Involved That Don’t Involve Money. Here you’ll find some fantastic ideas for spreading the word about gender equity, expanding your own knowledge base, and to celebrate the contribution women make to the world!
25 Ways to Get Involved that Don’t Involve Money
As a next step, download and distribute our 25 Fundraising Ideas, for some easy ways to raise money, awareness, and have some fun at the same time!
Check out our Challenge for Change in Timor-Leste, for an amazing opportunity to spend ten days trekking the world’s newest nation with IWDA, and to raise important funds for our efforts in the process. (Check out the article featured on day three of this campaign for an insight into gender-based violence in Timor-Leste.)
Sign a petition to end violence against women at the UN sponsored Say NO – UNiTE campaign website, and join the 1,642, 916 people who have already taken a stand against gender-based violence.
Please also remember to download our 16 Days of Activism thumbnail and distribute it widely. Upload it to your Facebook profile for the duration of the 16 Days and tell your friends and family to do the same!
Remember, you have the power to create positive change for women and their communities. Every step you take is a step in the right direction!
