IWDA Gender and Policy Advisor Jo Crawford will be speaking at the Accelerating Gender Equality Summit in Sydney on 5th September.

In January 2011, the most significant step towards gender equality in history was made with the formation of UN Women, a global champion for women and girls established to accelerate progress on meeting their rights.

The Accelerating Gender Equality Summit will bring together civil society, representatives of the federal state government, the corporate sector and those interested in gender equality to discuss how UN Women will be central to accelerating gender equality and how we can all support the newly formed organisation.

Confirmed speakers include:

Lakshmi Puri, Assistant-Secretary-General, UN Women
Moni Pozani, Regional Program Director, East and South East Asia, UN Women
Elizabeth Broderick, Sex Discrimination Commissioner
Julia Newton-Howes, Executive Director, CARE Australia
Jo Crawford, Research and Policy Advisor, IWDA
