Fiji: A Silent Step Towards Peace
Sharon Bhagwan-Rolls is an ardent advocate of UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
As the founding Coordinator of femLINKPACIFIC, Sharon has been working to inform Fijian women of the ways in which 1325, together with initiatives such as the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, can empower them to “wage peace” at local, national and international levels.
The need for peace has never been greater in Fiji. On 5th December 2006, the country was thrown into turmoil by another military coup.
