To mark the third anniversary of the tsunami on Boxing Day, 6 intrepid runners conquered the 55 floors to the Rialto Towers’ Observation Deck. Lead by tsunami survivor and IWDA board member Trisha Broadbridge, three teams of two runners.
The event raised over $45,000 to date for two projects, an IWDA income generation project in the Maldives, where women will create chilli farms and product chilli sauce for the local market, and the Reach Broadbridge Fund project, The Broadbridge Education Centre, on Phi Phi Island in Thailand in memory of Troy Broadbridge.
The 3 teams powered up the 55 flights of stairs, with the fastest time being achieved by Trisha and her team mate, Lynden Dunn, from the Melbourne Football Club, with a collective time of 21 minutes. Over 160 people attended the breakfast event to cheer on the runners and remember the toll the tsunami had on hundreds of thousands of people.
Many thanks to the major sponsor ANZ and supporting sponsors Colliers International, CB Richard Ellis, Puma, Fitness First, Noughty and the staff of the Rialto, the Reach Foundation and the participants.
