WLB receive Madeline K Albright Award

IWDA would like to congratulate one of our partner organisations, the Women’s League of Burma (WLB) who have recently been awarded the prestigious Madeline K Albright Award.

The Madeline K. Albright award and grant honours an organisation that exhibits exceptional promise in creating a greater role for women in political and civil life. One organisation is selected annually from a competitive pool of applicants to receive US$25,000 to support their initiative. The award was established by the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) in Washington DC in 2005.

WLB will use the grant money to support an extension of the IWDA supported Emerging Leaders program. The grant will enable graduates of the Emerging Leaders school to facilitate trainings/workshops with local women and girls when they return to their communities.

Congratulations, WLB!
