16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence

IWDA supports The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence campaign, which occurred from 25th November – 10th December.
This activism campaign originates from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute sponsored by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership in 1991. The dates, 25th November (International Day Against Violence Against Women) and 10th December (International Human Rights Day) symbolically link violence against women and human rights, and aim to emphasize that such violence is a violation of human rights.

The 16 Days Campaign has been used by individuals and groups around the world to highlight the need for the swift elimination of all forms of violence against women by raising gender-based violence (GBV) awareness, increasing and strengthening work around GBV, providing a forum for people to share ideas for new strategies to combat GBV, showing solidarity, and creating tools to influence governments around the world to implement promises made to eliminate violence against women

This year the theme of the 16 days of Activism Against Gender Violence campaign was: Human Rights for Women ‹—› Human Rights for All.
