Raising young women and men’s voices on climate change issues

Raising young women and men’s voices on climate change issues
Partner: Tulele Peisa Inc
Country: North, central and southern regions of Bougainville, PNG

This project will work to provide space for young women’s and men’s voices to be heard on the environmental, social and natural resource issues arising from climate change and the relocation. It will involve young women and men from the Carteret’s and Tinputz in activities across North, Central and Southern Regions of Bougainville sharing their experiences of impacts of rising sea levels through advocacy, traditional songs and dances. Through this program Tulele Peisa is promoting cultural understanding between Carteret Islanders that need to relocate due to climate change and Tinputz communities on the mainland that will share their land with these relocating communities. Young women and men will play a key role in inter-community exchanges of knowledge and culture, relationship building initiatives between the communities, and in raising the voice of people affected directly by climate change.
