Young Women Interested in Changing the World
Global Youth Impact is an exciting new leadership program which is open to young women from across Victoria –in years 10-11.
The program will develop advocacy and leadership skills while focusing on issues of gender, international development, social justice and human rights.
Participants will explore issues of gender and development and will be encouraged to think about inequalities between women and men, both in Australia and overseas as well as specific social justice issues that are important to them.
The initial year of the program will focus on the research and development of the training course, materials, publications and project packs to engage students and a trial of the training program.
The program aims to engender a feeling of empowerment in young women as agents of change through exposure to international rights frameworks, examples of women tackling gender inequality, experience of leadership, and development of important work-life skills.
