Overcoming Barriers to Girls’ Education in South Asia: Deepening the Analysis

The United Nations Education for Girls Initiative has published a critical assessment of the steps taken by South Asian countries in overcoming obstacles to girls’ education.

This study makes a profound analysis of the ways in which the countries of the South Asia region are working towards education equality, in an attempt to understand the barriers girls need to overcome.

The purpose of this study was to contribute to the achievement of education and gender-related aim of the MDGs in South Asian countries.

The report also offers feasible policy options and tools for advocacy to governments and other stakeholders to improve women’s access to learning.

The report is available at UNGEI.
