International Women’s Day Stories

International Women’s Day Stories

On International Women’s Day, IPS news agency spoke with Iranian Nobel Prize Winner Shirin Ebadi and new UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova about their efforts to champion women.

Both went to New York, with thousands of others, to review what progress women have made since the landmark Beijing Conference on Women, fifteen years ago.

An international team of IPS reporters based in New York for the week of International Women’s Day on the 8th of March have compiled an insightful edition of, Terraviva Beijing +15.

This news source addresses the question of “Have women’s rights become human rights yet?” through the collection of a variety of critical stories and interviews that arose during the week long International Women’s Day discussions.  Definitely worth taking a look. M.T.
