Nominations for the 2010 Media Peace Awards Are Now Open Nationally

Closing date: 5pm, 10 September 2010.

These Awards were initiated as a National Program in 1978 and recognise the role of the media in promoting social justice and humanitarian issues as well as generating awareness within communities that leads to public debate and policy change.

Journalists and producers whose work has appeared in the Australian public media between 12 September 2009 and 10 September 2010 are encouraged to nominate now.

Of particular interest to those working in gender and development is the special award category ‘Increasing Awareness and Understanding of Women’s Rights and Issues’, sponsored by the Office of Women’s Policy. B.M.
