Register for gender consultants

As an organisation that works for gender equality, IWDA welcomes and encourages a stronger focus on gender issues from all development players.

IWDA is significantly expanding its work towards gender equality. To support this growth, IWDA has established a new online register for professionals with gender expertise, to bring together in a dynamic way the available knowledge and experience and make it more accessible.

The register will be used by IWDA to identify appropriate individuals to approach in relation to our development work with partner organisations, in tendering for technical and programming opportunities requiring gender expertise, and to expand IWDA’s gender consultancy services.

Who should register?

IWDA is interested in professionals who:

  • are skilled in terms of both substantive gender expertise and ability, and in ways of working that are empowering and respectful
  • are interested in undertaking roles of various durations, from short-term to ongoing gender advisory roles’
  • have experience at organisational or field level, and with policy or programming
  • are available for work in Australia (including with Indigenous communities) or overseas, particularly in Asia and the Pacific.

Specifically, we are looking for individuals with skills and experience in:

  • gender analysis
  • gender audits
  • gender budgeting
  • gender-informed policy development
  • gender-informed project design and appraisal, monitoring and evaluation
  • incorporating gender in sectoral strategies and Poverty Reduction Strategies
  • engaging with men through mainstream development programming to progress gender equality
  • capacity building and leadership development with women’s organisations
  • measuring the effectiveness of gender policies and programmes
  • developing gender indicators
  • integrating gender in organisational policy and practices, including
    • incorporating specific gender responsibilities in job descriptions and KPIs
    • developing accountability frameworks and incentive structures to support implementation of gender policy commitments.

IWDA also encourages registration from individuals with specific sectoral expertise in the following areas:

  • Economic empowerment, including approaches to microfinance and small enterprise development that work for women
  • Civil and political participation, including women in decision making and women’s political representation as well as legal literacy and rights based training
  • Access to health education and services, including sexual and reproductive health services
  • Access to education, including literacy programs, formal, non formal and informal education structures and programs
  • Environmental sustainability, including land use and the recognition of land owned by indigenous peoples, water rights, alternative uses of environmental technology (green technology)
  • Freedom from violence, including addressing domestic, family and institutionalised violence against women, and the violence stemming from militarisation; strengthening and utilising women’s conflict resolution and peace building skills and expertise

IWDA endorses the National Privacy Principles as part of our operating principles, and will ensure that any personal data held about you is as correct as possible.

We hold information about you if you have indicated that you have an interest in our organisation as a donor, a prospective supporter or as a volunteer. The type of information that we collect includes names, addresses, emails and financial information supplied to us by you, and is only retained where it will assist in achieving our mission and keeping you, as our supporter or volunteer, informed of our activity.

You will have the opportunity to correct your information and you may, at any time, contact us to gain access to any data we hold about you (subject to identification). We will not use data held about you, such as a mailing address, for any purpose other than what you have indicated, and we will not share or sell your details to any third party.
