2011 Challenge for Change – ‘Taking Steps to Timor-Leste’

‘Taking Steps to Timor-Leste’

28th May – 6th June 2011

Explore the beauty of this undiscovered land

Travel with us to Timor-Leste (East Timor) for a unique opportunity to experience the beauty, struggles and hopes of the world’s newest nation.

You’ll trek in the magnificent rugged terrain of this largely undiscovered land. You’ll also experience firsthand the challenges faced by the Nation’s women, and learn how they are working together and using the strengths of their communities to rise above poverty and challenging circumstances.

IWDA is proud to be able to support Timor-Leste programs in economic empowerment. This incredible, resilient country and its people will provide you with unforgettable memories, an insight into international development and breathtaking adventures throughout your journey.

Here you’ll embark on a 10 day adventure and spend invaluable time visiting the Cova Lima Community Centre, and the women IWDA work with to access income and build sustainable livelihoods. A sustainable livelihood is the key to enabling women to provide the daily essentials we often take for granted – such as food, shelter, healthcare and education for themselves and their families.
